Lis here – I’ve been on a scratch baking kick lately. In an effort to put healthier foods on the table, I’ll slowly be replacing or introducing the ingredients I think will put us on the right nutritional track. That doesn’t mean we can’t have desserts – as with everything, moderation is the key. I spent a fair amount of time searching the net for what I thought sounded like the perfect yellow cake recipe Continue reading
Lis’Anne here. I’m sorry I’ve been absent from the blog for awhile. Some health problems have sapped my energy and unfortunately, my creativity. But it’s Christmas and traditions must be carried out no matter what! In our home, we have many. Peanut butter balls, fudge, cinnamon rolls for Christmas breakfast, and many others. One of my favorites is homemade Mexican Wedding Cakes, also known by those other names in the title. There are many recipes all over the Internet for these awesome little bites of heaven, but I think mine is the best. Continue reading
Lis’Anne here and I’m so glad to welcome back our low-carb cooking friend, Mona Karel! Yay! She’s giving herself a break from writing her next book. Don’t take too long of a break, Mona; your awesome stories won’t write themselves. Chicklets readers, you should check out her website where she shares more low-carb recipes such as her baked zucchini cheese sticks and her amazing chocolate fudge!
Anyone who has embarked on low carb eating has heard about cauliflower cheese “bread,” which also serves well as a crust for pizza. With my new found appreciation for the white stuff, I’ve tried and enjoyed several of these recipes. This being the land of the green chile and me being who I am of course I had to make some adjustments. After much gluttony sacrifice in the search for the perfect green chile cheese bread, I do believe I’ve come up with something that works. Continue reading
The Betty Crocker website has a plethora of recipes, most of which have pictures. I don’t think I’ve ever selected a recipe to try from any on the Net if there wasn’t a picture with it. It has to look good enough to want to eat + I want to know what the dish is supposed to look like when finished.
You can join the Betty Crocker Scratch Baker’s Club for access to many more recipes, an exclusive on-line baking recipe book, discussion boards, and ask the author of The Cake Bible any questions you may have about tips and techniques.
By joining Betty Crocker, you’ll also have access to printable coupons and be able to save recipes in your own recipe box. I love saving the ones I want to try, then picking one every now and then to serve my family. The ratings and discussions let me know how others who tried them like each recipe.
