Genevieve Scholl Returns with Herbs & Potions!

Have you ever watched Charmed and wondered what kinds of herbs they were using in their potions? Well, you’d be very surprised to know that most of them are everyday household herbs that have just been given a different name. For example, mint is used for a number of things in the home, including baking and infusion in teas. However, I bet you didn’t know that it is also used in Witchcraft to bring money and good luck to the person who ingests it. Technically, it is a masculine herb, but it can also be used to cure menstrual headaches and toothaches.

Since we are nearing Halloween, a holiday that includes a lot of witchcraft and pumpkin pie :) , let’s also talk about Nutmeg. Nutmeg, which actually comes from the seeds of an evergreen tree, is an important ingredient in pies, cakes, and even on some meat dishes, but did you know that it is used in witchcraft as an aid to clairvoyance? Bet you didn’t.

The last time I guest blogged, I talked about coffee and it’s different “powers” and I mentioned that it is believed to ward off evil spirits and nightmares. So, in the morning when you are drinking your cup of steaming hot coffee, add a sprinkle of nutmeg and a little mint. Not only will evil spirits be wary of you, but you will also have a day filled with good luck, assisted by your clairvoyance. While you’re at it, why not add a pinch of cinnamon and bring yourself some good luck in the love department as well! That definitely sounds like a great day!

I think I’m going to go mix up a few potions and brew a pot of coffee myself. Those evil spirits won’t know what hit them!

  1. I’ve always heard cinnamon helps suppress appetite (or something like that), which is why I sprinkle it liberally on all kinds of stuff. I didn’t know I was boosting my luck in love, too.

Thanks for the informative post. I love learning something new!

  2. Lis says:

I have coffee, nutmeg, and cinnamon! No mint, but at least I’ll be clairvoyant, surrounded by love, and maybe lose a bit of weight! :-)

Thank you so much for coming over and sharing your herb knowledge with us today, Genevieve!

  3. Mary says:

Genevieve, what a fun post! I’m not a coffee drinker but I do love mint in my evening teas!

    Thank you for sharing! :)

  4. Genevieve, I don’t know if I want to be clairvoyant. :) But I’ll take less menstrual pain any day!

  5. Abigail Sharpe, you made me giggle lol… Tea is good too Mary.
